BRUINS BATTLING AT DIVISIONALS
Day one is in the books at the Sac-Joaquin Division 1 North Divisional at Ponderosa High School. Vacaville leads the tournament followed by Folsom, Elk Grove, Oak Ridge and Ponderosa. Ten Bruins have secured spots in the top 8 to advace to next weekends Masters tournament in Stockton. Reaching the semis after day 1 were; Jacob Gonzales, Sean Melton, Nick Troquato, Jacob Richards, Jorden Marinelli and Jeff Camilli. In consolations are Jacob Garcia, Christian Canepa, Trae Providence and Henry Sharoyan.

BRUINS SMASHED BY THE BULLDOGS
Before a large turnout inside Folsom’s gymnasium, the Bruins were never in it after Jacob Gonzalez’ 8-3 decision in the 113-pound match tied the score at 3-3. After Folsom ran off the next eight wins, Ponderosa trailed 38-3 and mathematically couldn’t catch the Bulldogs. Ponderosa stopped the slide when Nick Troquato (170) scored a major decision win against ex-Bruin Devon Nooner. At 182s, Jacob Richards repeatedly let Alex Hurlimann go despite a tight score though Richards prevailed 13-7. Ponderosa’s most exciting win came from Jorden Marinelli who reversed a late 6-3 deficit with a four-point flurry in the closing seconds to edge Folsom’s Alex Wood 7-6.

FOUR PLACERS AT TIM BROWN MEMORIAL
It was a 9th place team finish last weekend at the Tim Brown Memorial in downtown Sacramento. Ponderosa had four placers and had one finalist in Jeff Camilli. Camilli's only loss came in the last match when he lost to #3 State Ranked Michael Loman from Foothill HS. Sean Melton placed 4th, Nick Troquato and Jacob Richards both finished in 6th.

Next up for the Bruins is the dual against Folsom High School on Wednesday. This dual will decide the 2011-12 league champions.

BRUINS DEFEAT OAK RIDGE 52-18
On Wednesday night the Bruins took it to the Oak Ridge Trojans, winning by a score of 52-18. After the Bruins gave up a forfeit to start the dual they got some big pins to quickly take the lead and never looked back. Collecting pins in the dual were Nick Troquato, Jorden Marinelli, Jeff Camilli, Jacob Gonzales, David Timm, TJ Spangler and Trae Providence.

Next up for the Bruins is the Tim Brown Memorial Friday and Saturday at the Memorial Auditorium in downtown Sacramento.

Nick Troquato took 7th place at the Doc Buchanan Invitational on Saturday evening.
TROQUATO 7TH AT THE DOC BUCHANAN
Nick Troquato had a great tourament at the Doc Buchanan Invitational this past weekend. On Friday he upset the number 8 and 9 seeds to advance to the quarter finals. Nick's record on the two days was 4-2 and finished with a 7th place. The Bruins also competted at the El Camino Tournament on Saturday and finished with a 2nd place. There were 10 wrestlers who placed in the top 6.

Next up for the Bruins is the league dual at Pleasant Grove on Wednesday, January 11th.

Trae Providnce had a great comeback win on Wednesday night to help the Bruins defeat Sheldon.
BRUINS TAKE DOWN SHELDON
In the most exciting match of the night, Trae Providence scored two late takedowns to tie the match and send it into overtime. Trae then scored the takedown and nearfall to help give the Bruins a 53-7 win over the Sheldon Huskies. Pondo won 12 of the 14 matches and received four pins from T.J. Holloway, David Timm, Nick Troquato and Jorden Marinelli. It will be a very busy weekend for the Bruins as the varsity travels to Clovis for the Doc Buchanan Invitational, 2nd varsity to the El Camino tournament and the JV team to the Vista del Lago tournament.

CAMILLI 3RD AT SIERRA NEVADA CLASSIC
The Bruins finished in 10th place at the Sierra Nevada Classic during the holiday break. Several wrestlers won matches to help the Bruins climb the ladder in the team standings. Jeff Camilli lost a close match in the semi finals but battled back to take a 3rd place. Nick Troquato also won several matches to battle back to take 5th place.

On Friday Christian Canepa was 5-0 and earned a spot on the All-Tournament team.
BRUINS 2ND AT PONDO DUALS, 3 ALL-TOURNEY
The Bruins finished 3-0 in their pool to advance to the championship rounds but fell to Will C. Wood 30-28 in the final dual of the night. Three wrestlers finished 5-0, Christian Canepa, Sean Melton and Jorden Marinelli, and earned spots on the All-Tournament team. Ponderosa's 2nd varsity team finished 3-2 on the day.

PONDO 2ND AT COUNTRY CLASSIC
The Bruins finished second place behind Elk Grove at the first annual Gold Country Classic this past Saturday at Ponderosa high school. Sean Melton, Christian Canepa and Nick Troquato were the three champions on the day for the Bruins. Also placing in the top four in their respective weights were Brady Ruppenthal 4th, Keegan Bell 4th, Jonathan Timm 3rd, David Timm 3rd, Robert Holloway 4th, Aubrey Hutcheson 3rd, Jacob Richards 2nd and Jorden Marinelli 3rd.

The Bruins will be back in action this week with a dual at Rodriguez high school and the Ponderosa Duals at home on Friday and Saturday.
